weekend a la plage - antibes recs!
i had the most relaxing, beautiful long weekend in antibes w/ my bestie! here's everything we did!!
Hi everyone!!!
Can’t believe we are already approaching July - this month has truly flown by and I am feeling so grateful for all of my adventures in these past few weeks. I just got back from the most perfect weekend in Antibes. What a beautiful, dreamy little town. My best friend, Lea and I do yearly bestie trips and it is the most special thing ever. We started this tradition last year because we both were finishing trips in Europe at the same time so we booked a few days in Sardinia, another magical place. The same thing happened this year and our stars aligned again so we chose the SOF. We plan on doing these until we are old and grey :) such a special tradition.
We definitely have lucky girl syndrome when we travel together - we literally planned absolutely nothing for either of these trips. We will send each other a bunch of tik toks of cool things leading up to it, but we can’t make a decision on where we want to eat dinner until an hour before kind of vibe. But sometimes I think that is the best way to travel, especially for a quick trip; have a few reservations, but get there, assess the vibes and just see what you are feeling in the moment. We did have the most AMAZING air bnb booked - here is the link :) It was right in the center of the old town which I would highly recommend staying in. The town is so adorable with a ton of cute shops, restaurants, and bars and fabulous food and clothing markets. This air bnb was so nicely decorated - we literally both wanted to get the sheets on the bed, that’s how comfy it was- and also had the most amazing balcony with a gorgeous view of the pier (and crazy SOF yachts - a girl can dream)
I’m going to take you through our itinerary day by day this time :) Upon landing, I immediately walked to the vintage market in town that happens on Thursday’s and Saturday’s. Honestly, it was a bit underwhelming - there was cute vintage jewelry, linens, and houseware, but it was a bit smaller than I thought - I think the markets in Nice + St Tropez might be a bit better based on what I have heard, but still worth checking out! Then I got myself a beach towel and some sunscreen and walked about 2 minutes to the beach. Heavenly. Our air bnb was also around the corner from a perfect, gorgeous public beach, Plage de la Gravette. There’s nothing like that first dip in the ocean of the summer, especially when its the Mediterranean. I literally couldn’t have been more relaxed. I also read 3 entire books in 3 days. That’s how you know. After spending the entire afternoon at the beach, we got ready and went to a lovely, chill dinner at Chez Jules. This is the most adorable Italian spot in town. It literally looks straight out of a movie set. I got a reservation here the day of FYI! My bikini here is vintage Cavalli :), cutie bandana shorts are from Etam, and pink crochet dress is from Rouje!!
Day 2 was absolutely heavenly. We woke up and headed to the cutest little bakery in town for breakfast, Lilian Bonnefoi. Delish and adorable. As per usual, we were figuring out what to do with our day at breakfast because the first place we called for beach chairs was unavailable. We ended up calling Plage Keller and they had a last minute opening. This place is an 10000000% MUST if you are traveling to the SOF. It was literally the most gorgeous, perfect beach set up ever. When we were walking up to enter, I literally felt like I was in a dream. There is a restaurant, chairs on the beach, and then they also have these two piers covered in beach chairs, which is where we were sitting, literally felt like you were right in the water. Stunning views. I immediately ordered a sprits upon getting there. We stayed from 12pm to close at 6:30pm, they had to kick us out. It was perfection. We ordered lunch and drinks to our chairs all day and both got absolutely lost in a book in between jumps in the ocean. The chairs were around 50 euros each, but well worth it in my opinion. After getting home and showering, we ended up deciding to go to Hotel Belles Rives for a drink and just wing it for dinner. This hotel was absolutely stunning, like literally the most gorgeous sunset views, I highly recommend. We walked in easily to their Bar Fitzgerald for a drink outside and they also had a great menu, so we ate dinner there. I believe the hotel also has a Michelin star restaurant, but we needed to give our credit cards a rest LOL. We had also thought about going to Hotel du Cap at one point, but the menu there looked so expensive and they also don’t allow you to rent beach chairs, so saving for next time! It’s def on my bucket list. My bikini here is SO good - also from Etam and so cheap, the Oui Oui tote is by The Jacksons London, and the dress I wore to dinner is DVF, so gorg :)
Day 3 was just as perfect. We called the Cap D’Antibes Beach Hotel again that morning and they told us no for a second time, but we were both like you know what, let’s just show up. We really wanted to go because it is all pink and so cute. We started the morning by walking through town a bit. There is an amazing market called Marche Provencal that is so dreamy to walk through, think lavender, spices, cheeses, fruits, veggies, meats, flowers, just everything French and dreamy. My friend Lea is such a foodie and was obsessed. We went to Boulangerie Veziano for a croissant and let me tell you this was one of the best pain au chocolats I’ve ever had. I went back the next day for another. We got an iced coffee at Nomad Coffee which was a cute little spot too, walked into some of the stores and ofc made some little purchases. I got an evil eye bracelet and a headband and Lea got a cute crochet dress. Then we went to the Cap D’Antibes Beach Hotel and fully finagled our way into getting beach chairs. Lucky girl syndrome. I would recommend booking a week in advance (what they told us), but I’m so glad we took the risk lol. This was another perfect beach vibe, the pink chairs are very aesthetic and girly and there was a beach and pool to jump in at all hours of the day. We had lunch at their restaurant, Baba, which was delish. They also had an ice cream cart where I got a chocolate cone that I enjoyed in the ocean. Truly living the dream. The chairs were also around 50 euros here - great service, great vibes, the perfect spot to plant for the day. When we got home from the beach, Lea picked up some cheese and crackers in town and we had a little spread and wine on our balcony. We then headed to Mamo Michelangelo for dinner. This was the only res we had in advance. This spot is AMAZING, a little fancier, but delish Italian food, and a celeb fave. The outdoor patio is also gorgeous. We were going to also stop by the Absinthe bar after, but we were too tired from the sun and ended up reading in bed again, GRANDMOTHERS. LOL. But I actually went here last year when I was staying in Cannes and it was SO much fun. My sparkly bikini is from Swim by Di, obsessed, the crochet coverup was a vintage find at Bobby, and obviously my Pucci moment. That is Lea’s top that I borrowed and paired with my new Etro shoes that I am so addicted to, but unfortunately they are all sold out everywhere.
On my final day (Lea’s flight was super early back to NYC), I got another croissant and there was another new market happening right outside the food market. This one was really good - lots of cheap white linens, jewels, and fun trinkets like that. I got the best, comfiest white linen pants that I ended up wearing home. I was actually so so sad to leave this trip, it was so lovely and felt like a true vacation. Antibes was magical and as much as there is to do in the SOF, it was really nice to just kind of stay put for the weekend. We actually had a lunch res at La Guerite that we ended up cancelling because we really just wanted to be by the water, tanning and relaxing. I am really hoping to make it back down south before the end of the summer, I just love it so much.
Stay tuned for many more travels this month - I am really having a yes girl July. I am last minute going to Ibiza on Friday for the weekend, potentially straight to Saint Tropez and then maybe Mykonos the week after. Crazy girl. But while I can, I’m gonna do it all!!!! It is HOT this week in Paris. Taking some time to get back into my routine and chill a bit by myself. I have been with people for the past 3 weeks and am happy for a few days of peace and quiet. Yet at the same time I have 4 different people texting me that they are in town this week, so we shall see!! All to be updated in substack ofc - I will be dropping my last week in Paris too later this week! Lea was also visiting and we did a bunch of fun, girly things I wanted to share, so stay tuned :)
Have an amazing week! I love you all and thank you for following along this amazing adventure !
xoxo,
Soco <3
